INDIANAPOLIS – Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch joined the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and members of the state’s Housing Working Group yesterday to announce data collection has begun as part of a new statewide housing inventory platform. Once completed, a website will provide a comprehensive county-by-county breakdown of Indiana’s housing supply.

“As we continue to build our workforce, housing stock is of critical importance,” said Crouch. “Housing must be considered a part of Indiana’s economic development and our infrastructure as we continue to attract new talent to the state.”

Gov. Eric Holcomb and Lt. Gov. Crouch’s 2021 Next Level Agenda identified housing as a key focus in their pillar to Maintain and build the state’s infrastructure. As a result, IHCDA was directed to create a comprehensive overview of Indiana’s housing supply.

To aid in this effort, IHCDA established a statewide Housing Working Group to assist with undertaking the development of the new website. The group issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) last year and recently selected RH&A Advisors.

“We will be working closely with RH&A Advisors to develop the web-based platform with a variety of stakeholders in mind,” said Jacob Sipe, Executive Director of IHCDA. “It will not only provide a comprehensive online dashboard of Indiana’s current housing supply, but help housing developers, homebuilders, employers, local units of government, and service providers more clearly identify where the housing needs exist in our state.”

To assist IHCDA in the creation of this new website, a Housing Work Group was established that consists of individuals from the following organizations:

  • Federal Home Loan Bank
  • Indiana Affordable Housing Council (IAHC)
  • Association of Indiana Counties
  • Indiana Banker’s Association (IBA)
  • Habitat for Humanity of Indiana
  • Indiana Apartment Association (IAA)
  • Affordable Housing Association of Indiana (AHAIN)
  • Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (AIM)
  • Indiana Association of Realtors (IAR)
  • Indiana Builder’s Association (IBA)

The housing inventory platform is expected to be released later this year.
