FEDCO Business Pitch Competition Will Reward Best Entrepreneurs

Rochester, Ind. – Fulton Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with community sponsors, is supporting local entrepreneurs by hosting THE PITCH by FEDCO, a business pitch competition that will award $10,000 to start up or expanding existing businesses in Fulton County.

On Thursday October 18th, 6:00-8:00 p.m., selected businesses in Fulton County will have 5 minutes to present their business “pitch” to a panel of local judges to compete for $10,000 in prize money. Each pitch will include: Clearly defined problem/solution, evidence of feasibility, clearly defined business model, competitive advantage, explanation of how the winnings would accelerate the business toward launch/growth and an explanation of how dollars will be used.

$10,000 in prize money will be awarded at the judge’s discretion among finalists.
This event will be open to the public and held in the Arlington Room, at Jarrety’s Place 701 Main Street, Rochester.

“This is a community effort to support entrepreneurs”, says Terry Lee, FEDCO’s Executive Director. “FEDCO has invested in the program but our sponsors, Fulton County REMC, NIPSCO, Smith Sawyer Smith, RapidView, North Central Indiana Small Business Development Center and the USDA made it happen.”

Interested prospective and current businesses that meet the size standard of less than a million dollars in gross annual sales and fewer than 50 employees can take the first step to enter the competition by going to www.fultondevelopment.org/events and completing the online application no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday September 7th, 2018.

All entries will be reviewed, and finalists will be chosen based on feasibility, presentation, positive community impact, and potential job creation.

Experienced business advisors from the North Central Indiana Small Business Development Center will be available to help with the application and/or THE PITCH presentation.

Winners must execute their business or expansion plan no later than six months after the award is presented. Existing business entries must be in full-time operations with a primary office in Fulton County for at least two years.

Amy Beechy, FEDCO’s Entrepreneurship Program Manager says, “FEDCO’s BizGro program has had proven success in growing businesses. We’ve assisted hundreds of local business owners and created jobs. The PITCH by FEDCO is the next significant way we’re supporting and growing local businesses.”
