Indiana Secretary of State and the Indiana Department of Revenue to host Auto Dealer Training Sessions

INDIANAPOLIS  — Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson and the Indiana Department of Revenue have joined together to create a seminar which provides information that is beneficial and valuable to the success of Indiana Auto Dealers.

The intent of this training seminar is to alleviate confusion and provide Indiana dealerships with the necessary information, resources, and skills to reach their maximum potential, as well as open lines of communication between state offices and auto dealers.

This free two hour training seminar will cover a variety of topics including:

  • Sales tax requirements for new, used and leased vehicles
  • Tire fees
  • Use tax requirements
  • Motor vehicle rental excise tax
  • Cross-border sales tax requirements
  • Explanation on how taxes are calculated and how each state handles taxes
  • Common violations and enforcement actions
  • What to expect during an audit

Attendees will also have an opportunity to have questions answered by experienced representatives from the Indiana Department of Revenue and Secretary of State Connie Lawson’s office.
