Indiana Secretary of State’s event will offer free financial and legal consultations

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson hosts the second annual Straight Answer Saturday, a community event that allows Hoosiers to meet one-on-one with attorneys and financial planners. This event is free and open to the public.

“No judgment. No sales pitches. Just straight answers. That’s our goal for Straight Answer Saturday,” said Secretary Lawson. “My office created this event to ensure the citizens of Indiana can get legal and financial help in a stress-free environment, free of charge. If you aren’t sure where to turn when it comes to important questions about money management or legal issues, our volunteer professionals will help you get on the right path.”

Attorneys and financial planners will be on hand to answer questions about budgeting, investing, wills, power of attorney, tax filings, advance healthcare directives and more.  Additionally, attendees will be able to meet with representatives from the Social Security Administration, the Better Business Bureau, Senior Medicare Patrol, AARP, Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center, CollegeChoice 529, IndyGo, and the Indiana Department of Child Services.

The office of Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson is proud to partner with the University of Indianapolis, the Financial Planners Association of Greater Indiana, and the Indiana State Bar Association in the planning of Straight Answer Saturday.

Free parking is available at the UIndy campus, and a free shuttle will transport guests to and from downtown Indianapolis. The Miller Transportation shuttle will do pick-ups and drop-offs every hour, on the hour, from the IndyGo stop at the corner of Alabama and Market Streets. The first pick-up is at 9:00 a.m., and the last drop-off is at 5:00 p.m. Full transportation details are available on www.IndianaMoneyWise.com.

While not required, Hoosiers interested in attending Straight Answer Saturday are encouraged to register in advance using an online form: http://SAS.UIndyBiz.com.
