The joint appearance will come at the closing luncheon of the two-day training event for local Republican Party leaders, candidates, volunteers and grassroots activists. Following remarks from each of the U.S. Senate candidates in attendance, Congress of Counties registrants will have the opportunity to vote in a straw poll indicating which candidate they are most likely to support in the May 8th Indiana Republican Primary.
“Our U.S. Senate straw poll will provide political watchers with the first grassroots barometer to measure early support in this high-profile, statewide race that has national implications,” said Indiana Republican Party State Chairman Kyle Hupfer.
Confirmed candidates for this special joint appearance are Former State Rep. Mike Braun (R-Jasper), Mark Hurt (R-Kokomo), Congressman Luke Messer (R-Greensburg) and Andrew Takami (R-New Albany). Congressman Todd Rokita (R-Brownsburg) is also invited to attend and participate.
The winner of the Republican primary will face off against U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly in November 2018.
