Ivy Tech sets Go Ivy Days at Logansport and Kokomo campuses

KOKOMO, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College’s Logansport and Kokomo campuses will open their doors in the upcoming weeks to give prospective students a chance to see the many opportunities community college offers for personal and career advancement.

The “Go Ivy Day” events are set for 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Logansport Campus at 1 Ivy Tech Way and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 3, at the Kokomo Campus at 1815 E. Morgan St. Both events will include campus tours; an opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students; and a look at the programs and courses offered at that campus. Visitors will be able to learn about free services offered to support student success as well as transfer options with Ivy Tech’s four-year partners. Participants can enjoy refreshments and Ivy Tech giveaways.

“Our instructors are putting together a great hands-on experience with everything from a virtual welder to robotics to health sciences simulators,” said Marcia Worland, vice chancellor for Enrollment Services for Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Region. “Faculty members will be joined by current students and alumni who will be on hand to greet visitors and share their Ivy Tech experiences. This is a great way for high school juniors and seniors to see how community college can be their pathway to a career or a four-year degree.”

Worland said some high school groups are already scheduled to attend but the event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the educational and training opportunities at Ivy Tech.

“This would be a good opportunity for high school students to use a college visit day,” Worland said, “but we also want to welcome home-school families and people who may have ‘sat out’ a year or two after graduation who now are ready to get started on a degree.”

The “academic showcase” will include information and hands-on activities in the areas of business, computing and informatics, education, fine arts, health sciences, nursing, public services, and technology, along with information on university transfer opportunities. In the student services area, participants can get information on admissions, financial aid, academic advising, and student life and student success services.
