AKRON, IN – The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation is seeking suggestions from the community on a name for the Tippecanoe Valley High School football field.
School corporation policy states that in order to name a facility, a committee must be formed and the public must have a chance to give input. Suggestions from the public will be accepted through noon on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, and must be emailed to suggestions@tvsc.k12.in.us.
The committee will then review the names and narrow the list down to three. Those three names will then be sent to the board of trustees for review and will be discussed during three separate public board meetings – a 6 p.m. work session on Sept. 6 at the administration office, a 7 p.m. regular board meeting on Sept. 11 at Mentone Elementary and a 7 p.m. special board meeting on Sept. 18 at Mentone Elementary.
According to school corporation policy, the board of trustees will make the final selection from the list submitted by the committee. The policy also states that the board shall name facilities or portions of facilities after staff or community members for meritorious service to the corporation. Any name change in the future must also follow the same process – a chance for public input and deliberation throughout at least three board meetings.
A dedication ceremony featuring the new name is scheduled for Friday, September 22, at the high school football field when Tippecanoe Valley plays Manchester.
