Psi Iota Xi’s Race to Marrs
For those who have always wanted to complete a 5K run but never got around to training, Psi Iota Xi can help.
Saturday, Oct. 26 is the Race to Marrs 0.5k – that’s right, 500 meters – starting at 5:30 p.m. from the parking lot west of The Dam Landing, Rochester, Indiana.
A short, roughly 500-yard fun race – either run, walk, or jog – for the slacker in all of us! Registration is open to ages 21+, but children may run or walk with adult supervision for free. Participants may also dress in costume, come in groups and make an evening of it.
Registration is $20 per person and includes a long-sleeve t-shirt and two complimentary drink tickets. There will be prizes but don’t expect anything fancy – we’re slackers after all.
There will be a silent auction of baskets and a 50/50 raffles. Anyone may stop by and participate in those. If you plan on doing so, please remember to bring cash.
Taylor, a 2014 Rochester High School graduate, followed her childhood passions of art and photography and was beginning her sophomore year at The Art Institute of Indianapolis when her life was tragically cut short in a car accident on June 22, 2015. With an infectious smile and can-do attitude, she planned a career as a professional photographer.
Psi Iota Xi’s award-winning Eta Mu chapter, Rochester, takes on summertime downtown art banners, free books for kindergarteners in the county every month and an annual free summer speech clinic. It supports a myriad of other music, art, literature and speech and hearing projects.
Online registration is open at https://runsignup.com/Race/IN/Rochester/RacetoMarrs05k. For additional information, contact Christina Seiler at (574) 835-2095. Registration is open through Oct. 23, but in order to guarantee yourself a t-shirt, registration is required by Oct. 9.
